National University of Mongolia

Partner - Lot 12

The National University of Mongolia is the country’s oldest and only comprehensive university and a leading centre of sciences, education and culture. It was established on October 5, 1942 in the capital city Ulaanbaatar with three faculties: Pedagogical, Medical and Veterinary Sciences.

The University now has twelve schools and faculties in Ulaanbaatar and campuses in Zavkhan, Khovd and Orkhon provinces. The University has 1200 faculty and support staff, 12000 undergraduate students and graduate students. The University offers the widest range of undergraduate and graduate programs in natural and social sciences, and humanities. Committed to human peace, development and welfare in the increasingly globalised world, the NUM promotes equal and mutually beneficial international cooperation. It is a member of the International Association of Universities (IAU), University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific (UMAP), Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE), Eurasia Pacific Uninet and founder of Association of Central Asian Universities.

The NUM maintains relationships with international development agencies, scientific and research institutions, private organisations, alumni members and other supporters of education. We have direct cooperation agreements with more than 130 universities and scientific institutions in Europe, the USA and the Asia-Pacific Rim. Through the agreement of cooperation we send 120 staff and 60 students to foreign universities annually. The international student population is 300 representing over 20 countries. The international programs for foreign students include programs in Business and Economics offered in English, summer schools in Mongolian studies, biology and environment, archaeology and anthropology, internships, teach and travel programs and cultural tours. The University has 24 foreign faculty teaching on long term contract.

The Mongolian University of Science and Technology is a leader in the higher education reform process is dedicated to elevating the country’s standards to an international level by sharing knowledge and experience with the international community. International Cooperation has brought to the staff and students of Mongolian University of Science and Technology a great opportunity to learn and open its mind to a new world.

The main problem engineering university is facing is the important lack of modern laboratory facilities and therefore limited practical experience. The establishment of research projects within many European Union programs in food technology, textile technology and in student service at MUST brought unlimited opportunities for our staff and students to be involved in valuable international exchanges focused on technical development.
