University of Murcia
Partner - Europe
Murcia lies on the SouthEast coast of Spain and though the Universidad de Murcia was founded in the XII century, it disappeared and worked once and again until its definitive foundation in 1915. The University of Murcia has nowadays a wealth of sound and long experience in the management and administration of important international actions within the sphere of higher education and it is always our main objective to make students, teaching and research staff’s stay at our University and our city easier and easier, as our experience increases. Our university is a comprehensive one (including all disciplines) and consists of 4 campuses, 16 faculties, 3 university schools and 7 research institutes. In order to manage the international development of all of them, our International Relations Office counts on 11 full-time international officers, and a 5-members Section of administration. Besides this, some support is sometimes received by temporary scholarships and placements to collaborate in the office in the framework of European and national projects. This last is the case in the geographical field of Asia, where a collaborator coming from China is always available to help students coming from Asian countries. Concerning the facilities that in-coming and out-going students and teachers could be offered, they are as follow: 1 Accommodation Service (“Live in Murcia” vimur@um.es), one Information Service, one International Students Association (www.esnmurcia.es), 950 free access computers, 40 computer labs, 3 language multimedia labs, 3 libraries in which 4,300 reading sits, 700,000 books, 2500 electronic journals, 2 sport halls, 2 football and rugby pitches, 1 seven-a-side football pitch, 2 aerobic and fitness rooms, 1 gymnasium, 4 tennis and squash courts, 1 climbing wall, 2 indoor swimming pools, 1 training area.
In relation to these facilities, oversea students and teaching/research staff, most particularly those participating in the External Cooperation Window programme, are considered to have the same rights and duties as home students and staff.
